Check-up
During a check-up, the dentist will examine the condition of your teeth and oral health. You will also be asked about your general health, as this can affect your mouth. We will check the condition of your teeth, gums and oral hygiene. In addition, we check for early cavities, tooth wear, and other problems. This allows us to detect potential risks at an early stage and intervene where necessary.
Second opinion
A second opinion involves having your teeth or treatment advice assessed by another dentist. This can help to provide greater clarity, give you extra certainty or allow you to consider alternative advice. The dentist providing the second opinion will not treat you themselves, ensuring that the advice remains independent. Your own dentist will preferably be informed of the findings, but this will only happen with your consent.
Prevention
Healthy teeth start with good prevention. During your preventive appointment, we focus on a clean mouth and healthy gums. Our dental hygienist gives personal advice, performs a professional cleaning and shares tips to keep your smile beautiful for years to come. Regular check-ups help prevent problems – because prevention is the best care.
Dental cleaning
Dental cleaning is a treatment performed by a prevention assistant or dental hygienist. We check the health of your gums and carefully remove tartar, plaque and other impurities. The teeth are then polished for a clean and smooth result. For this treatment, we use EMS Airflow, an advanced technique that effectively removes plaque and discolouration with a fine jet of air, warm water and powder. This ensures that your teeth feel fresh and look radiant again.
Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment, also known as nerve treatment, is necessary when the nerve tissue in a tooth is infected or inflamed. This can occur, for example, in the case of a deep cavity, a crack or fracture in the tooth, or trauma. During the treatment, the tooth is carefully cleaned, disinfected and filled to prevent new infections. Finally, the tooth is sealed with a filling. Thanks to effective local anaesthesia, the treatment is usually painless and the tooth can be preserved.
Dental anxiety
Fear of the dentist is very understandable, especially if you have had unpleasant experiences in the past. Unfortunately, this can cause you to postpone visits, resulting in dental problems. At Tandartspraktijk Zuyderhoven, we understand this fear and take the time to put you at ease. Our dentists are trained in special techniques for anxiety management. Together, we will help you regain your confidence in visiting the dentist, step by step.
Implantology
An implant is an artificial replacement for a tooth root, usually made of titanium or zirconium. It is surgically placed in the jawbone and serves as a solid foundation for a crown, bridge or (partial) denture, for example when one or more teeth are missing. At Tandartspraktijk Zuyderhoven, Celine van Lingen specialises in implantology and restorative dentistry. She is currently following a recognised training course at ACTA. Upon completion of this course, she will be an officially NVOI-accredited dental implantologist. This will allow her to focus entirely on complex dental reconstructions and aesthetic treatments.
Wisdom tooth removal
At Tandartspraktijk Zuyderhoven, you are in good hands for wisdom tooth removal. In most cases, a referral to an oral surgeon is not necessary: we perform the treatment ourselves, right here in our practice.
Thanks to our specialised knowledge and the availability of advanced medical equipment comparable to that found in hospitals, we can perform this procedure safely and professionally. This means you can undergo treatment in a familiar environment, without any extra steps or waiting times.
Teeth whitening
Teeth whitening removes discolouration from the tooth enamel and makes your teeth visibly whiter. We use Opalescence whitening gel, a safe and effective system that you can use at home with a custom-made mouthpiece. The gel contains carbamide peroxide, which penetrates deep into the enamel and whitens the teeth in a responsible manner. This is the only whitening method we fully endorse, as it is safe for your teeth and gums and gives a natural, long-lasting result.
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of tooth-coloured material that are placed on the front of your teeth. They improve the shape, colour and appearance of your teeth and can correct minor imperfections, discolouration or gaps. You can choose between composite veneers or porcelain veneers. We will be happy to discuss which option best suits your needs and gives the best results.
ICON
The ICON treatment is a gentle, innovative way to remove white spots or discolouration on your teeth, without drilling or anaesthesia. We treat the affected enamel with a special infiltrate so that the white spots blend in nicely with the natural colour of your teeth. The result is an even, smooth appearance and a healthier-looking smile. ICON is quick, painless and preserves your natural tooth structure, while making your teeth look better immediately.
Filling
A filling repairs a damaged or decayed tooth. We use tooth-coloured composite for this, which adheres firmly to the tooth and ensures a natural result. The tooth is often anaesthetised during the treatment. Afterwards, the filling is neatly finished and checked. You can use your tooth normally again immediately. Any sensitivity after the treatment is temporary.
Crowns and bridges
When a tooth is so damaged that it consists largely of fillings, it is advisable to opt for an onlay or crown. A crown is a sturdy covering that is placed over an existing tooth. This restores the tooth to its original shape, strength and appearance. A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of several crowns that are connected to each other and supported by the adjacent teeth.
Restorative
Restorative treatment focuses on repairing your teeth, whether that means restoring them to their original condition or achieving the look you desire.
When teeth are worn, missing or not functioning properly, we work with you to determine what is needed to make your teeth healthy, strong and beautiful again. This may involve various treatments, such as placing crowns, veneers or implants, or correcting your bite.
Over the years, many people experience wear and tear on their teeth, for example due to grinding, acids in food or brushing habits. This causes teeth to become shorter, thinner or more sensitive. In such cases, we carefully rebuild the teeth – usually step by step, using durable materials such as composite or ceramic – so that your bite functions properly again and your teeth look natural and healthy.
Every treatment is tailor-made and carefully tailored to your wishes and needs.
Intake
The intake is your first appointment with us, during which we take the time to get to know you and assess your oral health. We discuss your wishes, habits and dental history, and together we look at what you need. We also perform an oral examination and take X-rays. Based on this information, we give advice and draw up a care plan together. This way, you know exactly what to expect from us and how we can best help you.
Children
A visit to the dentist can be stressful for children. That is why they receive that little bit of extra attention at Tandartspraktijk Zuyderhoven. We take our time, explain everything calmly and work according to the “tell-show-feel-do” method. This way, children know exactly what is going to happen and we build trust together. We believe it is important that children feel at ease in our practice. Together, we ensure that a visit to the dentist is a positive experience, both now and in the future.
Dentures
A dental prosthesis, also known as dentures, is a replacement for missing teeth. It not only restores the appearance of your teeth, but also their function. Depending on your situation, a prosthesis can replace all or only some of your teeth. We therefore distinguish between two types: a full prosthesis and a partial prosthesis.
Implant-supported dentures
Implant-supported dentures are removable dentures that fit firmly onto implants in the jaw. These implants are surgically placed and ensure that the dentures remain securely in place. This provides more support and comfort than traditional dentures, while still allowing you to easily remove the dentures for cleaning. Have you been wearing conventional dentures for a long time and are you experiencing complaints or discomfort? Then you may be eligible for implant-supported dentures that are (partially) covered by basic insurance. We would be happy to discuss the options with you and what is required.
Clear aligners
Clear aligners are transparent, removable orthodontic aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. They are comfortable to wear and virtually invisible, making them a popular alternative to traditional braces. You can easily remove them for eating and brushing, which makes them a practical choice for everyday life. With clear aligners, you work towards a confident, beautiful smile in a discreet and effective way.
